In love with the BEAM

I have recently read this interaction on Twitter:

Andrew notices that he is “not qualified to work in an Erlang shop”. Same situation here. I feel I am not qualified (yet) to work either in an Erlang shop or in an Elixir shop.

But the curious part is that after he worked as an editor of an Elixir book, he fell in love with BEAM, not with Elixir. This is related to my previous post here on the Elixir and Erlang ecosystem (and community).

I also liked Erlang Solutions response:

Notice the focus is also on the BEAM, not on Erlang.

My point is: who knows what the BEAM is, besides those that program in BEAM languages?
