Ariano Suassuna

Ariano Suassuna was a Brazilian playwright and author. He wrote “Auto da Compadecida”, a brilliant play set in northeast Brazil.

The puppet above is at “Embaixada de Pernambuco”, a kind of museum that displays giant puppets used in Olinda’s carnival.

I had to go to three places that exhibit giant puppets to finally find Ariano.
